Bellezine is designed and edited by students taking ENGL 299: Directed Reading and Research. The course is a variable credit course (1-5 credits) that runs every Winter and Spring Quarter.
Students have a hand in all aspects of the publishing process; soliciting and evaluating work for publication, publicizing and promoting the magazine, learning editing and design, budgeting and funding, and planning and marketing the release of the magazine.
In addition, students acquire a working knowledge of the publishing landscape by reading and analyzing some of the top literary magazines in the nation, hearing from guest speakers in the publishing industry, and considering web vs. print journals.
